I am a Do-it-Yourselfer

If you find some things don’t work on this page, don’t be surprised! I am it all!

In other words, I am a Do-it-yourselfer. But, I am definitely not an expert at any of this. Everytime, I go to do something (like add a subscription form), I run into a new word or directions I don’t understand. Such as: RSS. Now I know this stands for Real Simple Syndication. It is to simple for me! I was asked what is my FeedBurner URL. I know what an URL is, but what is feedburner?

As you can see, I have to learn as I go. Fortunately for me, the internet is a wealth of information. Off to Googling I go…….

Is Shea Butter a Miracle?

August 20, 2009
Barb

Since 1999 I have been making and selling natural skin care products that feature Shea Butter on my site www.silkysoftskincare.com . Actually it started out as Silky Soft Soaps. A year ago, I decided to concentrate on the skin care and drop the soap making. Even though this was the beginning of my business.

I use my own products. After discovering Shea Butter, I have not used any other moisturizer. 100%shea butter When I wash my face shea butter goes on. I keep a jar in the shower and always apply to my body while my pores are still open. In the medicine cabinet is a jar of Shea with Tea Tree Oil. My husband and I use it anytime we have: bites, burns, cuts, etc. I must be allergic to my own sweat! Because in the summer I develop and itchy rash anywhere my clothes fit tight. Shea with tea tree stops the itch and heals the rash. My husband has a patch of exema and he swears by the shea and tea tree oil.

Is Shea Butter a miracle? No..but it is close!

Baby Oil is Not Good For Baby

August 15, 2009
Barb

It smells nice and it’s soothing for baby, but….

Mineral oil (baby oil) is not good for you or your baby’s skin.

Yes, it will protect against diaper rash by clogging the pores and forming a film and it smells good. But, remember that fragrance oil is also made from chemicals in a chemical lab.  These type fragrance oils are the culprits blamed for many skin allergies.

And now for the advertisment that you knew was coming…….Shea Butter – I cannot stress enough the value of shea butter.

All natural Shea Butter is one of the best things you can put on your baby. It is great for treating and preventing diaper rash. If your baby has irritated and red skin caused by diaper rash, shea butter will sooth and relieve the rash. As a preventative it creates an effective layer that will keep your baby dry and prevent diaper rash.

100% Shea Butter is not thin like a lotion. But it melts at body temperature. Put a little on the palms of your hands and rub together to melt, then apply to baby. Read the complete article on Silky Soft Skin Care Learning Center

Buy Natural Instead of Name Brands

August 13, 2009
Barb

Why should you buy “natural” instead of the name brands on the market?

The name brands add many chemical preservatives for longer shelf life. This may be a year or more.  Think about how old that product is when you buy it! To keep their price down to compete with the other brands, they use the cheapest ingredients possible. That is why when a product says “Aloe Vera Cream”, aloe vera is at the bottom of the ingredients list.

Our skin knows what it will or won’t absorb. Natural substances are recognized and readily absorbed into our skin. Natural anti-aging skin products contain vitamins, minerals, anti-toxidants, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and aromas from nature. These are recognized and accepted into our skin. Natural lotions and ointments help our skin to maintain its healthy tone, texture, elasticity, and aroma. Your skin will discard old skin cells, build new ones and in doing so, improves your appearance.

There are many good, natural products on the market. At Silky Soft Skin Care we believe that keeping the ingredient list down to a minimum is important. We sell only 100% Shea Butter with the only added ingredient is natural Vitamin E.  We have several creams that are 50% Shea Butter and %50 Another natural ingredient. Take a look at: silkysoftskincare.com  Every order receives 3 samples of our other creams.
